Everything about Coldstream Victoria totally explained

Coldstream is a small town just outside eastern suburban Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is in the Local Government Area of the Shire of Yarra Ranges, 6 km to the east of Lilydale.
In 1909, Dame Nellie Melba bought Coombe Cottage at Coldstream. The house is located at the current juncture of Maroondah Highway and Melba Highway (named in her honour) and is now the home of Melba's granddaughter. Melbourne's CBD is 49 kilometres to the west, along the Maroondah highway and then the Eastern Freeway.
Coldstream has a local primary school, community centre, garbage dump and several farms. It had a railway station that was used for freight purposes up until the 1990s, but it has since been closed and the buildings demolished. The airstrip, Coldstream Airfield, is home to a flying school operated by the Royal Victorian Aero Club.
On clear winter mornings Coldstream is one of the coldest places around Melbourne, with the temperature dropping below 0°C (32°F) on several mornings each year (it very rarely drops below 2°C in the centre of Melbourne). Overall, the daily minimum temperatures are even lower than nearby Mount Dandenong despite being much closer to sea level.
